Life is such....
Last week was quite eventful.

Started the week with the gala premiere of Shrek 3 at Great World City. Lots of celebs were there, especially those with kids. Ken Lim's son is sooooo cute. He was dragging his dad towards his fav idol Paul Twohill immediately after he spotted him. It felt a little odd with all these celebs around. Yes, they are just as normal as we are, but somehow they make us seem a little out of place. We absolutely do not belong to the glitzy arena. Not that they are arrogant or anything like that but it's just different lah. I pity their privacy though. There to watch a movie but yet being gawked at most of the time. Poor souls.

Was having lunch with Mike on Thursday when he received a call from his mum to go home quickly. She didn't explain much over the phone but we guess it had something to do with Mike's 6-month old baby niece, Ting Ting. I was praying hard throughout the journey from Thomson to Jurong that nothing happens to the baby and also our own safety cos Mike was driving quite dangerously! We quickly sent Ting Ting to the hospital where they did some scans to ensure that she wasn't having any heart problems. Apparently, she turned blue and had difficulty breathing at home, which scared the hell out of Mike's mum. The poor baby was crying throughout and it was pretty painful to see her suffering. Luckily, it wasn't anything serious and the doc diagnosed that she was suffering from urine infection. She had to be warded for observation though and was discharged on Sunday. Phew!

Went to J8 and Tampines Mall for the mini auditions of Live The Dream. Michelle Chia and Andrea Fonseka were there trying to grab wannabes to audition on the spot. Michelle's really really sweet. She's one of the nicest celeb I've worked with. No airs at all and so easy to work with. She even complimented my permed hair (must tell Gerald! haha), asked me where I got my white bag and we ended up chatting. Looking forward to working with her for the next few months...if I'm still at MC that is......heh. Had dinner at Ichiban Boshi at Novena with dad, mum, sis, mark and mike cos we had an $80 voucher. I'm so in love with Ichiban's lobster salad items. Yummy!

Was greeted with a piece of not-so-good news on Monday morning. My colleague tendered. I knew it was coming but didn't think i would come so soon. There goes another bitching khaki. This place is getting from bad to worse. Why work so hard when you know that you can never be as purrrrrfect as her? She's shining like a bright star while you are probably just a small little sparkle. And what's with all that biasedness and demoralising words?

Moral of the story: Be seen and be heard. Sucking up RULES.

Simply magical....
This is a long overdue entry.....nevertheless I'm still excited about penning it down! :)

After our dinner @ Jumbo, we headed straight to the stadium while my poor sis was still travelling on the bus back to Singapore, and knowing that she could reach only after 9pm! Yikes. I was feeling the pain for her already. Missing part of the concert was worse than anything else!

Our seats were on the 5th row. Very close to the stage!! People started streaming in and I spotted some HongKong fans in front of me who were well prepared with clappers and lightsticks. I also had some lightsticks with me though. Courtesy of Mike. Heh.

8.15pm. The concert hadn't started. Good. The later the better cos sis wouldn't miss that much. The atmosphere was pretty good. Grasshopper songs playing in the background (totally psyching me up! haha!) with an almost filled stadium with mostly 20 to 30 somethings and even some ah mahs!

8.30pm. Sis sms-ed me to ask if the concert had started. I said no. And the minute after I said no, the lights dimmed and everyone started screaming including myself!! I was like Oh. My. God. It was finally starting and Grasshopper appeared on stage! I screamed. Again and again.

I felt a sense of nostalgia. Everything just seemed so surreal. The stage, the lights, the atmosphere and most of all the magical moment when Grasshopper slowly arose from the platform. Just like 11 years back when we attended their concert which I felt was the best concert one could ever attend. And I knew this one couldn't be any better. The feeling was indescribable. Really. You may think I'm nuts. Going ga-ga over a canto pop group at this age. But hey, who says a 28 year old can't have an idol? :)

The atmosphere was electrifying. Grasshopper started with a few fast songs which got me standing up on my feet dancing, screaming and waving my lightsticks! Mind you, I was the only one doing that in my row so you can imagine what I was doing was in full view of so many people! Sis, where are you? Faster come! Anyway, strangely enough, I didn't care too hoots then about being paiseh. Ahh...the wonders of Grasshopper. Heh.

As you can see, I'm the only standing!

Not very clear but I love the colours!

Then came the slow songs. Aww...Shi Le Yuan by Remus was exceptionally touching. Pitch perfect too. Too bad sis missed that song. Mike was very sweet. He was taking pictures all the while so that I could concentrate on watching the trio. Haha.

9.45pm. Sis FINALLY arrived. She missed half the concert already!! But at least she was in time for the most exciting and fun part of the concert! And there we were, screaming, jumping, waving and singing along like some teenyboppers, totally oblivious to the people around us. One of the memorable moments was when Edmond and Remus got off the stage to shake hands with the audience. It was really chaotic. I was just standing there trying to shake Edmond's hand and was almost pushed to the ground by the security guard!! Crap. The encounter with Remus was classic. There we were trying to get his attention when all of a sudden, he stuck out his hand to shake Mike's hand! And he noticed that Mike was holding a camera and he actually posed for him! I was like win already lor. I only managed to grab his hand while Mike shook his hand. See the difference? Mike was like gloating away, though he doesn't even really care about them lah. I concluded that Remus probably prefers guys. Haha.

11.00pm. The stadium was turned into a dance party. Almost everyone was up on their feet. Damn solid. The more the trio danced, the more energetic they seemed. Think it was a good workout for me too. :) Oh man, I so didn't want the party to end. After two encores, it was finally the end of the concert. We were hoping that they would be out for the 3rd encore so we waited. But sadly that didn't happen. Sob.

One of the encore segments. Nice bods. haha!

Left the stadium reluctantly but not without purchasing their lanyards and tees first. Not cheap but it's worth the price - for memories sake. Ok ok. Stop rolling your eyes!!

So there you go. The best concert ever. I hope it doesn't take another 10 years for the next concert. Hmm.....three 50-year-olds prancing on stage. Hard to imagine but I'll definitely be watching. :)

Mollywood!
Yes, Mollywood. Our carnival theme. Whoever came up with that name. *roll eyes*

Dad and Mum spontaneously agreed to go to the carnival. We bought $40 worth of coupons all in the sake of charity. Used the coupons to buy laksa, carrot cake, hokkien mee, handroll maki and more. Mum also supported my stall which sold Braille art greeting cards which were personlised on the spot by three kind visually handicapped friends. I had to be on duty at 2pm so I left Mum and Dad to wander on their own. The sun was scorching hot I tell you. Everybody was sweating buckets. Not a very nice sight. And smell! Haha.

Mum and Dad managed to see Zoe Tay and Joanne Peh up close and personal. Haha. There were a few other artistes roaming around and I guess it was kinda exciting for the non-staff folks at the carnival. :)

Wrapped up the stalls at 5pm and couldn't wait to head on to Indoor for GH concert! Poor sis called at 4plus to say that the bus heading back to Singapore from KL broke down and she will be late for the concert! Gawd. That's the worst thing that could ever happen. Damn suay. She had been so looking forward to the concert as well.

Me and Mike headed to Jumbo for dinner first. We suddenly had cravings for black pepper crabs! It was yummy and shiok!

7.45pm - sis is still far from Singapore. Panic. Anxiety. Upset. No choice.

We headed to the premiere entrance. Butterflies in my stomach.
The long-awaited GH concert. Finally....

I'll have a dedicated entry just on the concert which I believe will be fairly long. Heh. With pictures as well. So be patient. :)

Home's the best...
I was a good girl yesterday :)

On Thursday nite, Jasmin asked if we were keen on MOS on Fri. Guess it was meant to celebrate her birthday. On Fri morning, Shanice suggested chilling out at Barcelona but because nobody said anything after that we assumed it's off. At 10pm, Yiting asked if I wanted to join her friends at a Thai disco (a mini Zouk she said) but I was feeling really lazy. At the same time, Terrence smsed us that we could have free entry into MOS if we reach by 10.45pm.

I was a good girl because I had dinner at J8 with my parents and went home just in time to catch the 9pm show. Spent the rest of my nite lying in bed watching tv. Knocked out quite early too. Quite satisfying when I woke up this morning cos I felt like I had sufficient sleep! I hardly feel this way! Haha.

Am on duty at 2pm at the MC Family Carnival later. Mum and Dad will be going as well since they are free. Am so looking forward to the GH concert later!!! Exactly 8 hours from now.

Some random entry..
So, Melinda Dolittle is out of the race to win the American Idol title. I hope Blake wins. Well, not that it bothers me anyway. I just want the season to be over so that I can wash my hands off the show. It's quite tiring having to arrange for interviews with the eliminated contestants every week. But this is nothing compared to the nightmare that I'm about to have with my new project. Sob.

Shucks. My pimples are popping out. My dark eye circles are getting from bad to worse. Mike's nagging me to sleep early but I don't sleep that late wat. I look damn crap. How??!! Must buy a better concealer. Anybody got good concealer to recommend? :)

Tomorrow's Friday. Finally. Which means 1 more day to GH concert. Heh.
But before the concert, I have to go back to MC for a family carnival.
Kind of like a charity thingy. I still have to work leh and you call it a family day? DUH.

Nvm, for charity, I shall not complain.

One down. Many more to go!
It started pouring like crazy at about 6am. I pulled up my blanket and snuggled comfortably, knowing that I have one more hour of sleep. Shucks. I so didn't want to wake up when the alarm rang. Dragged myself out of bed and almost instantly my mind started running through the things that I have to do for the press con later. Crap. The weather was really bad and I thought that wasn't a good sign. I prayed hard for the rain to stop.

The skies started to clear at 9am. Great. At least it didn't seem gloomy. Was on the way to Fashion Bar when Ken called to say that the place has not been properly cleaned up yet. I was like what??!! The press is expected to come at 10am and the place is still not ready? WTF. Nvm. Steady. I told myself.

Things started to fall into place at 10am. The celebs arrived. My bosses came. Journalists started streaming in. Best time for something to screw up right there and then. Surprisingly nothing happened. All thanks to my colleagues who helped out while I was running here and there, attending to queries. Everything went well and smooth. Phew. I was all prepared for complaints but as I'm writing this now, there are none. Yet. But I don't think I did a good job. True, I didn't screw up but I didn't shine as well.

Michelle, Andrea and Utt are extremely nice and friendly people! Easy to talk to and no airs at all. Michelle is gorgeous and Utt is uber cute and affectionate! Will get to work with them all the way till Nov. Cool.

News 5 tonight did a pretty decent coverage on the press con. I hate to admit this but I feel a sense of satisfaction when I saw it. Hoping to have a sense of ownership soon.

3 Days to Grasshopper concert. :)

Counting down.....
It's about 10 and a half hours away from D-Day. I'm furiously racking my brain now to see if I missed out anything. I'm a little nervous. And it doesn't show on my face. So says my colleague. But that does not mean I'm not gan cheong k.

I wonder why some people are so hung up about having to show that you are gan cheong. What's wrong with being calm and collected? Does it mean I don't give a damn if I'm not seen running around like a headless chicken and not 'sounding the alarm' ? I still get things done, didn't I?

I seemed lost. Do I? I'm disturbed by that comment. Is there an underlying meaning or is it just merely concern. I shall not read too much into it. I know I've done whatever I could. I'm already jaded by the culture we have over here. No matter how much effort you put in, you'll still get the blame. So, enough of my rants.

I shall seek solace in GH. Heh.
One crazy week....
It has been one hell of a crazy week. I had the uphill task of preparing for a press conference in just freaking 4 working days. At such late notice, there were so many million things to settle!
Ok let's list:

1) Venue - which place allows booking for an event just a week before? Luckily we managed to pull some strings and booked the place pretty quickly.

2) Availability of artistes - had to check on 5 of them which was damn troublesome! Some are so easy to work with while some are just plain divas.

3) Backdrop/standees - had to get the artwork done and send to print on Thurs in order for them to be ready by Tue. I was still telling the designer to make amendments at 1am k! It doesn't help that the designer is quite duh lor!

4) Press kit - so many freaking things to prepare. Press release, biodatas, FAQs, Q&As....

5) Media invite - had to design a nice media invite which took up so much of my time. I suck at photoshop so that explains why. Anyway, response from the media quite ok so hopefully the turnout on Tue will be good.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing screws up on Tue. It's D-Day for me. Do or die. This big project's gonna last me till Nov and I ain't gonna give anybody a chance to make my life miserable. But I have this nagging feeling about the press con. Yikes. Help!!

Went to unwind @ BarFly after work on Fri nite. Grace signed up as a member so we had two bottles of Chivas FOC. Quite a good deal, considering that she gets free entry to MOS, able to sign in two guests as well as other privileges. Got home only at about 4plus. Dead tired.

Celebrated Mother's Day @ Outback Steakhouse on Sat night. It was a joint celebration together with sis's mum in law. It was my first visit there and I must say the food's pretty good! Especially the mashed potato and juicy fried button mushrooms. Yummy. But it was all too sinful as we polished off everything including 3 ice cream desserts. Shucks. I'm seriously getting FAT. Somebody stop me from eating please.

yummy fried button mushrooms!

Sirloin steak with uber delicious mashed potato

This dish is called Chicken on a Barbie!?

And this is called Alice Springs chicken...strange names they have!

Went to sis's place for mahjong after dinner. But before that, we were playing with Mark's new toy - Nintendo Wii. It's really quite cool! I like how everything is controlled by just swinging the remote in any way you want. Baseball and bowling was fun! Mike, go get one too! Haha. Then we'll be stuck at home playing games and not want to go out which means not spending money...blah blah blah. You get the gist. Heh. Anyways, mahjong was fun. Won quite a few rounds but still not able to make up for two rounds where I had to pay $6.40. Lost $11 in total. Crap. And I was almost dozing off during the last few rounds that I had to play standing up! Home sweet home only at 5.15am!! Argh...mum's gonna nag me for sure. Heh.

Woke up at almost 1pm today and went out for lunch with Mum and Dad. Bought two bottles of bird's nest for Mum and some Pao Shen thingy for Popo as Mother's Day gifts, to be shared with sis. It was potluck dinner at my place and my relatives came prepared with lots of good food. It has been a long time since we had a family gathering at my place. Hope Popo's happy. She hardly gets to see them often and I hope they'll not wait till months later to visit her.... Anways, I think mum's happy with her pressies - Liza Wang concert tix, U.R.S bag, bird's nest and a box of expensive cookies from V Tea Room courtesy of Mark. :) Will have to start cracking our heads what to get for Father's Day!

P/S: I'm so Grasshopper-overdosed. Watched their latest concert DVD and I'm hooked. Can't get the songs out of my mind. Concert's next Sat. Yay! Can't wait! :)

So near yet so far....
Beware: This post is solely gonna be on Grasshopper. So if you are not an insect lover you might just wanna skip this post.

Ok ok, not THAT kind of grasshopper but the HK trio. As I'm typing away, I'm still fuming mad for not being able to catch them up close and personal in office! Yes, IN OFFICE. Ok not exactly office, but the building just opposite mine! They were at radio building doing interviews at 933 and 972 during lunch time. I could have been there watching them but was denied the chance because I was stuck in a freaking 4 hour meeting!! What can be more important than catching Grasshopper in person! Not that I've not seen that upclose before, but that was more than 10 years ago!

For those who don't know, I've been a fan of Grasshopper since secondary school days....up till today. *blush* So is my sis. haha. We've bought almost all their albums, attended their concerts and even collected a file full of media clippings of them! Dug out the file recently and it brought back many nostalgic and fond memories..... hey I even went Sentosa with them to play volleyball! (Poor xiujing kena dragged there as well to accompany me! Haha!)

Anyways, my colleagues laughed at me when I told them I'm a fan of Grasshopper. It's so not me they say. And they didn't think that it was my era. Oh well, whatever. I'm so looking forward to their concert on 19 May! The last concert was 12 years ago. Imagine that! Oh and this time, they want the concert-goers to be dressed in bikinis! How cool is that. I'm so gonna stand, scream, dance and party all the way! Mike's gonna roll his eyes I know but you know what? I think he's secretly excited about the concert as well! Hehe!

Those who have not bought tickets to the concert, BUY NOW. NOW NOW NOW.

06 May 2007
Late nights...
Was supposed to have a picnic under the stars at Fort Canning while watching Midsummer's Night Dream but we ended up at MOS instead on Friday. Went to Barfly for some drinks before hitting the dance floor at MOS. Quite a nice place - comfy seats and good ambience. Was packed with caucasians though.

Thought I had gone past the age of clubbing. And I still feel that way despite clubbing two weeks in a row. Gone are the days where we'll be drinking ourselves silly, getting high and dancing like there's no tomorrow. Instead, I only had a glass of wine and a vodka cranberry that had only 1% of vodka and 99% of cranberry. Cheat my money. We hit the dance floor at about 11ish and ended the night at 4am! I was already dead tired by 3am and my legs were killing me but my colleagues (who are mostly younger) were still partying away like energiser bunnies! I came to the conclusion that I'm getting old. I no longer have that energy. But it's ok. So be it. :)

So I spent the whole of Sat afternoon lazing at home to prep myself for the mahjong session at night. Heh. Had dinner with Mike, Xiujing and JJ at Jalan Kayu Spizza. Went back to her place for some dessert wine, accompanied by a Chocolate Marshmellow birthday cake for Mike which caught him by surprise. Heh. No luck in mahjong though. Lost $6.40 while XJ won almost $20! Considering the fact that she picked up mahjong later than us. Better luck next time.

we were trying to act drunk. but obviously failed except for JJ! :)

Yummy but uber sweet choc marshmellow cake

The calamari seemed to have shocked JJ. Ha!

Pizza @ Spizza

Monday's coming and I'm so hating it.

Bangkok Escapade
It's been quite a while since I blogged. Just feeling plain lazy. Ha.

Let's just start from the recent BKK trip last weekend. It was a short 3 nite visit where I indulged in my all-time favourite activity - shopping!! Platinum Mall is really a good place to shop! They are all wholesale prices but of course you'll need to buy a minimum of 3 pieces. Which explains why I came back with 8 dresses and more than 10 tops. But I totally regretted! I should have bought more dresses and shoes! As compared to Singapore prices, they are dirt cheap over in BKK! You can find such dresses in Far East selling at least $39 and only $8 to $12 in BKK! Regret regret.

Look at the dresses! Aren't they pretty?

Apart from the shopping, we went for massages which was simply heaven. I was so in need of a good rub and stretch and the Thai massage did just that. It was hilarious though, when the guys were squealing for the masseurs to relax and not press too hard! Yes, squealing! :)

Camwhoring in the cab with bright yellow seats

The 6 of us also went for some sharks fins and bird's nest at this famous place called Nam Sing. Tasted pretty alright lah. Not a big fan of both, though bird's nest is always good! For our complexion that is. We also stuffed ourselves silly at a seafood restaurant which was dirt cheap as well! 12 dishes, including big fresh prawns cost us $9.60 each. How to find such prices in Sing!

Bird's nest with longan

3 Girls and a Fishbone. Muahaha.

The 3 best buds

It's a pity we couldn't stay longer. I haven't shopped enough!! A last min buy at the BKK airport was a Hugo Boss belt. A birthday pressie for Mike. It's cheap! Again, as compared to Singapore, think the belt cost $50 cheaper. Thought it was a good buy. And also saved the hassle of me racking my brain of what to get for him.

I should post pics of my great buys. But that might take a while. I'm just darn lazy lah. =p

P/S: I decided not to be lazy and posted pics!! :)
